Here are some easy ideas (with approximate times) to choose from depending on your plans.

Sierra Nevada (nature and fresh air)
Perfect if you fancy a hike, viewpoints and high-mountain scenery in a National Park.
The Alpujarras (Pampaneira, Bubión, Capileira)
White villages, beautiful bends and charming stops along the way. Pampaneira is about 1 hour 20 minutes’ drive from the campsite (approx.).
Guadix + Granada Geopark (unique caves and landscapes)
Guadix is about a 40-minute drive from the campsite (approx.) and is the perfect gateway to the Geopark (UNESCO) area.
Costa Tropical (Almuñécar / Salobreña / La Herradura)
If you fancy a ‘day at the seaside’ without travelling too far, Almuñécar is about an hour’s drive from the campsite (approx.).
Montefrío (a village with views)
Perfect for a short trip: about a 45-minute drive from the campsite (approx.). What’s more, Montefrío has been highlighted by National Geographic for its views.
A mini daily plan for each option
Sierra Nevada
Vormittags: kurze Wanderung / Aussichtspunkte.
Nachmittags: gemächlicher Abstieg und den Tag ausklingen lassen.
Alpujarras
Morning: Pampaneira + Bubión.
Afternoon: Capileira and back, with stops to take in the views.
Guadix + Geoparque
Morning: cave neighbourhood + walk around Guadix.
Afternoon: viewpoints and trails in the Geopark (depending on the season).

Are there any day trips you can go on without a car?
Yes: there are bus services to destinations such as Pampaneira, Guadix and Montefrío (subject to timetables and the season).
Which excursion do you recommend to escape the summer heat?
The best option to cool down is to head up to the higher areas of the Sierra Nevada or spend the day on the Costa Tropical. And when you get back, you can always take a dip in the pool to end the day in the most refreshing way!
What if I want a landscape other than mountains or woods?
The Granada Geopark is perfect: geology, badlands and viewpoints (UNESCO Geopark).
Getting to any of them from the campsite is a breeze!
You’re just 25 minutes from the start of the famous Los Cahorros trail in Monachil, 45 minutes from Guadix or the Sierra Nevada, and about 55 minutes from Montefrío or the Costa Tropical.
